What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you browse. They are used to remember preferences, keep sessions logged in, measure traffic and, in some cases, to personalize advertising content.

Along with cookies, this policy covers similar technologies such as browser local storage, device identifiers and tracking pixels, since they serve analogous functions.

How we use cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies for three reasons:

• To keep the site working correctly.
• To remember the preferences you choose (language, cookie banner, accessibility).
• To measure how the site is used in order to improve it.

We do not use cookies for invasive advertising profiling. If in the future we enable any cookie-based marketing functionality, we will request explicit consent before activating it.

Cookie categories

The cookies we use are grouped into four categories:

• Essential: they are necessary for the site to work. They allow pages to load, keep the session logged in and remember cookie consent. They do not require consent because the site cannot operate without them.
• Preferences: they remember options you choose (language, display mode, dismissed banner). They improve the experience but are not indispensable.
• Analytics: they allow us to understand how the site is used (which pages are visited, for how long, on which devices). We use this information in aggregate form to improve the content. We anonymize IP addresses where the technology allows it.
• Marketing: we do not currently use cookies in this category. If we activate them in the future (for example, to measure conversions from campaigns), we will only activate them with explicit consent.

Third-party cookies

Some services we use to operate the site (analytics, hosting, support) may install their own cookies under our direction. These providers act as subprocessors and sign agreements compatible with the GDPR and Costa Rica's Law 8968. The up-to-date list of providers is kept in the security section of the site.

We do not allow third parties to use site cookies for their own purposes without our express authorization.

How to manage your consent

The first time you access the site, a banner appears where you can accept all cookies, reject the non-essential ones or configure your preferences by category. You can change your decision at any time from the link at the bottom of the site.

You can also manage cookies directly in your browser. Every browser lets you delete existing cookies, block third-party cookies or reject cookies by default. Please note that rejecting essential cookies may affect how the site works.

Duration

Some cookies are session cookies (deleted when you close the browser) and others are persistent (they last for a defined period). In general:

• Essential cookies: limited to the session or up to 30 days.
• Preference cookies: up to 12 months.
• Analytics cookies: up to 13 months.

These durations are indicative and may vary depending on the provider.

Minors

The site is intended for adults. We do not install cookies aimed at minors nor do we intentionally collect their information.

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the technologies we use or in applicable legislation. Material updates are announced in the site banner, and the date of the last update is shown above.
