What is a Mind Map?
It's a visual map with a central node (the main idea) and branches coming off it with sub-ideas. It's good for unblocking your thinking: when writing boxes you in, drawing sets you free.
Create a mind map
- New mind map → type the central idea in the center node.
- Shortcut: Tab adds a child branch; Enter adds a sibling branch.
- Change colors by right-clicking a node.
- Drag with the mouse to reorganize.
Example: planning content
You're going to plan the quarter's marketing content.
- Central idea: 'Marketing Q2'.
- Branches: SEO, Social, Blog, Newsletter, Events.
- Under SEO: 5 sub-branches (keywords, link building, pillar content, technical, local).
- Under Blog: 8 post ideas.
- Under Events: 2 confirmed webinars.
In 20 minutes you have the map of a quarter. Then you turn the actionable parts into real tasks.
