Pilot + Mailchimp: AI campaigns with cross-tool segmentation and A/B testing

Connect Mailchimp to Pilot via Zapier or the REST API. The AI segments lists with real CRM data, drafts campaigns in your tone, and orchestrates A/B tests with consolidated results.

What Mailchimp does with Pilot

Pilot is an AI-driven, end-to-end business system, fully turnkey: marketing, communication, CRM, sales, and operations come native, with email marketing included. If you also use Mailchimp, Pilot connects it and orchestrates it with AI; it segments with CRM data and coordinates campaigns, without asking you to migrate your lists.

Mailchimp remains one of the most widely adopted email marketing platforms in LATAM: visual editor, solid deliverability, a generous Free plan, decent automations, and reasonable reporting. Its limit is the same as every broadcast tool's: campaign quality depends on segmentation quality, and segmenting well requires customer context that Mailchimp alone doesn't have. Who bought, who opened last week, who asked to talk over WhatsApp, who left an abandoned cart; all of that lives in your CRM, ecommerce, and messaging channels.

Pilot connects with Mailchimp via Zapier or the REST API. It's a compatible integration; you paste your API Key and Pilot works, but it's not a native integration yet. The native integration with official Mailchimp authentication is on the roadmap. In the meantime, what you can do via Zapier/REST API covers the critical flows: syncing lists and segments with Pilot's CRM data, triggering Mailchimp campaigns from a Pilot trigger (new customer, deal won, abandoned cart), receiving opens and clicks as events in the customer's timeline, and letting the AI write each campaign's copy in your tone.

The result: Mailchimp stops being an isolated tool and becomes part of the operational stack. Segments respect the customer's real context, and campaigns close with consolidated data in the CRM.

What you can do

  • Sync Mailchimp lists and segments with real data from Pilot's CRM (customers, opportunities, interests).
  • Trigger Mailchimp campaigns from Pilot triggers: new customer, deal closed, abandoned cart, birthday.
  • Email copywriting by the AI in your brand's tone, based on the segment it's targeting.
  • Automatic suggestion of subject lines optimized for opens, using your account's history.
  • Receive opens and clicks as events in the customer's timeline in the CRM.
  • Orchestrate A/B tests between AI-generated variants and consolidate the results.
  • Detect inactive subscribers and propose a re-engagement or list-cleanup campaign.
  • Consolidated Pilot + Mailchimp reporting: opens by segment, conversion to sales, ROI by campaign.

Mailchimp via Zapier or Pilot's native Mailing module?

Pilot's native Mailing module includes a visual editor, CRM-based segmentation, A/B testing, and reporting, without going through Mailchimp. If your team hasn't chosen a platform yet or is open to consolidating, the native module is the simplest and deepest option (no intermediate integration).

If your team already has years of history in Mailchimp (large lists, approved templates, deliverability calibrated to your domain, automations running), there's no point migrating; the Zapier/REST API path with Pilot adds the AI layer without asking you to switch. When the native integration arrives, you migrate with one click without losing your configured flows.

Compared with HubSpot Marketing Hub, ActiveCampaign, or Klaviyo: Mailchimp is the most popular and economical option to start with; Klaviyo is preferred for advanced ecommerce; ActiveCampaign for complex automations. Pilot works via Zapier/REST API with all of them; the platform choice remains yours.

How to connect it

  1. In Mailchimp, go to Profile > Extras > API keys and generate a dedicated API Key for Pilot (free, 30 seconds).
  2. If you prefer Zapier: create a Zapier account (the Starter plan is enough) and connect your Mailchimp account.
  3. In Pilot, go to Settings > Integrations > Mailchimp and choose the path (direct REST API or via Zapier).
  4. If you choose the REST API: paste the API Key and your account's data center (us1, us6, eu1, etc.). Pilot detects your audiences and lists.
  5. Map Pilot's CRM fields to Mailchimp's merge tags (name, company, segment, source).
  6. Configure the Pilot triggers that will fire Mailchimp campaigns (new customer, deal closed, abandoned cart).
  7. Save and start operating. When the native integration arrives, you migrate with one click without reconfiguring the flows.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Mailchimp-Pilot integration native?
Not yet. The current connection works via Zapier or the REST API with your Mailchimp API Key. It covers the most common flows but lacks the depth of a native integration with official OAuth. The native integration is on the roadmap, and we'll let you know when it's ready.
What do I need to make it work today?
A Mailchimp API Key (free, part of any plan including Free) or a connected Zapier account. If you choose Zapier, the Starter plan (~$20/month) is usually enough for basic flows. The direct API Key has no extra cost.
What can I do today without the native integration?
Sync contacts and segments between the CRM and lists. Trigger campaigns from Pilot triggers. Receive opens and clicks in the customer's timeline. Write copy with AI. What you can't do (yet): real-time two-way editing of Mailchimp's visual editor from Pilot, and deep support for Mailchimp Premium templates.
Is Pilot's native Mailing module better than Mailchimp?
It depends on the case. If your team already has Mailchimp adopted, don't migrate; Pilot adds AI on top. If you haven't chosen a platform yet or want to consolidate your stack, Pilot's native Mailing module includes an editor, segmentation, A/B testing, and solid deliverability, all in one place. It's the best choice when starting from scratch.
When will the native integration be ready?
It's on the roadmap but we don't have a public date. If your case depends on the native integration, contact us; we can let you know when it enters beta. In the meantime, the Zapier/REST API path covers the critical flows without waiting.
